A Pragmatic Analysis of Conversational Implicature and Humorous Effect in Ice Age 2

美国语言哲学家格莱斯提出了会话含义理论以及在此基础上的合作原则,在会话含义理论的指导下,以电影《冰河世纪2》中的话语为语料,具体分析该影片中的话语违背合作原则时所产生的会话含义和幽默效果。分析结果显示,《冰河世纪2》中的话语因违背合作原则产生了会话含义,使原本简单的话语变得更加生动形象,影片也更加具有喜剧效果。

The American philosopher of language Grice proposed the theory of Conversational Im- plicature and the Cooperative Principle based on it. Guided by Grice＇s Conversational Implica- ture, this paper analyzes the conversational implicature and its humorous effect produced in the film Ice Age 2 when Cooperative Principle is being violated in the utterances. As shown by the analysis, when Cooperative Principle is flouted, these utterances will produce Conversational Implicature and in turn make the simple utterances much more vivid and the film much more humorous and interesting.
