Reading is an indispensable skill for English majors. As a particular group, English majors of independent colleges have their own characteristics, such as poor English ability and low motivation in reading, which lead to the difficult situation of English major reading teaching in independent colleges. It is of great importance to analyze the problems and give possible solu-tions in order to improve English major reading teaching in inde-pendent colleges.
