铜鼓客家山歌是客家文化的重要组成部分,反映了铜鼓客家的民俗民风及文化变迁。其艺术特征非常鲜明:其歌词在章法结构上以四句和五句为主,句法上多七言句式;修辞手法多运用比兴手法。其音乐形态特征也很突出:五声音阶调式,多为徵调式,曲式结构多为二句体或四句体。

The Hakka Folk Songs in Tonggu County form an important part of Chinese Hakka culture. They are reflections of local Hakka people＇s folk customs and culture evolution. The folk songs are distinctly featured in lyrics and melodies. A song generally consists of four or five sentences, each of which is made up with seven characters and in which the device of bi-xing（ metaphor and symbol） is mostly used. As for music form, the songs are written in pentatonic scale tonart, usually in Zhi-tonart., and their music form structure tends to be dual-sentence form or quarter-sentence form.
