Lei draft and its historical inspiration were discussed. A draft system created and invented in 1936 after ages＂ repeated research by modern famous textile engineer Mr. Lei Binglin in our country was retrospected and explained. Draft efficiency was effectively increased in the draft system. Yarn quality was improved. Major contribution was made to modern spinning engineering development in our country. It is considered that motive function of textile education and research to invention and innovation is reflected by Lei draft. It is the inheritance of big draft invention. The inheritance of manual textile engineering was also fully expressed. The three points were the important historical inspiration left for us.
