The Action of Children to Their Old Parents on Spiritual Solace

通过比较不同子女数目、家庭户类型、居住方式的老年人在精神依赖度、养老担心度和主观幸福感上的差异性,验证子女在老年人精神慰藉中的作用,进一步探讨当前"养儿防老"的可行性。研究发现,子女对老年人的精神慰藉仍能发挥一定作用,但这种效力已经式微,"养儿防老"的作用已经逐步弱化。整体上看,有无子女的老年人在精神慰藉上并未表现出统计上的显著差异;但存在一定的性别偏好,有女儿的老人主观幸福感高的可能性要大于仅有儿子的老人。同时,与子女同住的老人在精神上更倾向于依赖子女,这可能与共同生活形成的亲密关系有关。

It focuses on three themes of the old parents,which include mental dependence, trepidation of being old, and subjective well being. Tested children＇s influence in three aspects： the number of children, family structures and whether living with children. The study found that although children still plays a certain role in spiritual solace of the old, but their effect on spiritual solace of their parents is weakening. Whether have children or not has no significant correlation with spiritual solace. Differences between son and daughter in relation to the old＇s spiritual solace are observed. The old who have daughters are more possible to get high level of subjective well being than who only have sons. Meanwhile, the old would more like to rely on their children in mental if living with children and mostly because of the intimate relationship shaping in a long term living together.
