The paper introduces the rescue program in view of any burning damage and failure of wheelset turning oc- curring in axle box bearing, axle suspension bearing, or hollow shaft bearing of the harmonious type locomotive. With HXD~ B locomotive as an example, the paper specifies the rescue program and rescue tools, modeling analysis, and test verification, which indicate that the program and tools can have the faulty wheelset hang from the steel rail and quickly open up the line, resulting significant economic benefit and social benefit.
