On Translator's Artistic Thinking in Literary Translation

翻译是一系列心理活动的结果,翻译过程中的每一步都离不开译者的思维活动。任何的翻译活动都不是依靠单一的思维方式来完成的,而是不同思维形式通力合作的结果。文学翻译是艺术的再现活动,是译者从事的一项更为复杂的脑力劳动,要求译者具备文本再创作的一切思维能力和更高级的思维转换能力。文学翻译再创作实践中的技巧与方法,实际上就是译者艺术思维的技巧与方法。本文尝试探讨文学翻译中译者艺术思维的过程,并分析译者在再创作活动中所独具的艺术思维能力,从而进一步丰富文学翻译这一再创作现象的规律。

Translation is mainly determined by the translator＇ s psychological activity. Every step in the translation process involves the attendance of the translator＇ s thinking. Translation depends on the cooperation of different thought forms, such as abstract thought, imagery, inspiration, and so on. Literary translation, as a much more complicated mental practice, requires that the translator be equipped with all the thinking abilities in re-creation and employ the advanced thinking transformation ability. But these abilities all come from a special thought process rooted in artistic thought, which determines the aesthetic value and artistic life of the author and the source text and also reveals the nature of the literal translation--re-creation.
