摘要
《老子》中三次出现"愚"字,然而历代学者对这个字的解释多有不同。文章统计出现行版本、帛书以及竹简本《老子》中的"愚"字,进而考察历代学者对于这三处"愚"字的解释;然后从整个先秦时代的大背景去考察"愚"字在其他先秦文献中的出现情况,以及在具体文本中的解释。分析认为,《说文解字》中对"愚"的解释是不完全正确的,而段玉裁的注才真正归纳了历史中"愚"字的涵义流变:即先是愚笨、不聪明的意思,然后引申出如质朴、没有心机,愚直、戆直,装傻、假装愚昧,自我谦称等多重涵义。
The word ＂ Yu＂ appeared three times in the book of Laozi,and ancient scholars explained this word in different ways. This paper collects and studies the meaning of three versions of the word ＂ Yu＂ in the modern book,the silk book and the book written on bamboo of Laozi. Furthermore,the author analyzes the meaning of ＂Yu＂ in other books from the background of Pre- Qin Era. And the conclusion is that the explanation of ＂ Yu＂ in Shuowen Jiezi is not perfect,while Duan Yucai sums up the changeable meaning in his notes. To be specific,the original meaning of ＂ Yu＂ is stupid and unwise,and then it extends other meanings such as artless,straight,pretend to be stupid,self- abasing and so on.
