An Experimental Analysis on Why Democratic Social Party Participated in the So-Called National Congress

1946年7月3日,蒋介石政权违反政协决议,单方面决定于11月12日召开国民大会。对此,成立于1946年8月中旬的中国民主社会党开始时和民盟站在一起公开表示反对,但到伪国大召开前夕,民社党又一改初衷,宣布有条件地参加。民社党之所以最终决定有条件地参加由国民党一手包办的伪国大是由民社党的政治主张、民社党人对国民党政权仍存有幻想及缺乏政治斗争经验、张君劢个人等因素综合作用的结果。

On July 3, 1946, Jiang Jie-shi administration decided unilaterally to call the National Congressl on November 12, which was a violation of the resolution of the political consultative conference. Initially, both the Democratic Social Party and the Democratic Alliance openly expressed disapproval of the decision, but shortly before the so-called National Congress was held, the former changed its mind and announced its conditional participation in it. The reason for the final decisicon of the Democratic Social Party to conditionally participate in the so-called National Congress, which was totally monopolized by the Kuomintang, could be explained by the comprehensive effect of such factors as the political tendency of the Democratic Social Party, its illusions towards the Kuomintang Administration, its lack of experience of political struggle and Zhang Jun-mai himself, who was also responsible.
