Overview on the American Association of Library Services for Children

美国儿童图书馆服务协会是美国图书馆协会的分支机构之一,致力于支持和发展少儿图书馆服务。目前该协会有四个主要的全国性项目,即"每个孩子准备在你的图书馆阅读"、"儿童节/读书节"、"阅读!构建!玩耍!"和"每日宣传"。此外,协会还会负责评估和挑选适合少年儿童阅读的纸质和非纸质图书馆资源,提供主题书单、优秀儿童网站等,指导阅读。然而,协会也在为资金不足、电子图书和数字媒体的入藏、电子书的评选等问题困扰,未来两年,将会更加注重多样性的发展,计划开展针对少儿看护人的信息素养项目,以更好地为少儿图书馆和少年儿童阅读服务。

The American Association of Library Services for Children （ALSC） is one of the divisions of the American Library Association, committed to the support and enhancement of library services for children. At present, ALSC has four nationwide programs, which are ＂Every Child Is Ready to Read in Your Library＂ ＂DIA Read! Build! Play!＂ and ＂Everyday Advocacy＂. Besides, ALSC is also responsible for the evaluation and selection of books and non - book library materials for children, providing themed booklists and great websites for kids, and giving guidance on reading, etc. However, ALSC is also faced with such challenges as limited budget, incorporating new media into library collection and appraising and selecting-books. In the next two years, ALSC will focus more on diversity, developing information literacy program that aims at caregivers in order to improve services for children＇ s library and reading.
