Two Types of Coordination in Chinese

关于并列结构的基础生成,学界有不同观点,在司富珍(2009)和叶雅琴(2013)的基础上,对学界观点进行批评性吸收后认为,并列结构的基础生成应该存在句子并列和短语并列两种情况,很多语言(如德语、英语等)的并列结构中存在的非成分并列、不同语类成分的并列等表面复杂的现象应该是由上面两种并列结构中的一种基础生成,再经过类似数学中的提取公因式,合并同类项的操作而来。

Issues about how coordinated structures are base-generated are highly controversial due to the complex phenomena related to coordinated structures in different languages. There are two major views about it, one is that all the coordinated structures are the result of the coordination of sentences, the other one is that all the coordinated structure are base-generated at the phrasal level instead of at the sentential level. Following Si Fuzhen （2009） and Ye Yaqing （2013）, however, this paper observes Chinese coordinated structures and argues that both two types of coordination exist in the language. It is believed that the choice between the two depends on the types of the base. In addition, the coordination at phrasal level is only associated with noun structures, which actually indicates some parallels between sentences and noun phrases.
