摘要
在文化研究的大语境之下,性别研究近十多年来也有了长足的发展,它是传统的女权/性主义的自然延申和在后结构主义时代的最新发展。在性别研究的各种理论中,巴特勒的理论无疑有着最大的影响。经过中国学界的译介,巴特勒的理论在中国也得到一批青年女性研究者的追捧。我们究竟应该如何看待这种现象?作者认为,中国当代社会确实出现了一些令人难以解释的社会和文化现象,这在传统的理论那里是难以解释的,而用巴特勒的理论则至少可以对此加以解释。但另一方面,作者也提请国内学界注意,即使在西方学界,巴特勒的理论也是备受争议的,因此运用于中国社会文化现象的解释必须首先将其"语境化",并对之进行改造和重构,这样才能达到理论的双向旅行。
Gender studies, in the context of Cultural Studies, has been developing rapidly during the past decade or more. It is both a natural extension of traditional feminism and a new development in the age of poststructuralism. Of various theories dealing with gender, Judith Butler＇ s theoretical work is undoubtedly most influential. Through the critical introduction and translation in China, Butler＇ s theory is extremely popular among a number of young fe- male scholars. How shall we view this phenomenon？ To the present author, there have indeed appeared some social and cultural phenomena which can hardly be interpreted from a traditional theoretical perspective, while Butler＇ s theory might at least be used to interpret them. But on the other hand, the author also reminds his do- mestic colleagues, that Butler＇ s theoretical work, even in the Western academia, is still controversial. In this sense, in applying it to interpreting Chinese social and cultural phenomena, we should first of all contextualize it, in the process of which we could recast and even reconstruct it in an attempt to realize the bidirectional trave- ling of theory.
