Reflections on Translating Chinese Classics into English in the Light of FEI Xiaotong's Theory of “Cultural Awareness”

受《中国科技翻译》近期刊载的"费孝通的社会科学翻译成就"一文的启发,笔者撷取费孝通学术思想的一个重要方面——"文化自觉",结合中国文化"走出去"战略,探讨当下典籍英译工作的困境和出路。

Inspired by the article ＂A Study on FEI Xiaotong＇ s Achievements in Social Science Translation＂ published in Chinese Science ＆ Technology Translators Journal, this article explores his theory of ＂ Cultural Awareness＂ and its implications for the translation of Chinese classics into English and in turn the ＂going out＂ of Chinese culture.
