汉英进行体标记的语法化差异及其时空特质

The Grammaticalizational Differences of the Progressive Aspect Markers between Chinese and English and Their Particularities in Spatiality and Temporality

本文通过对汉英进行体标记语法化差异的考察,阐明这两种语言的时空特质。相似的空间来源是汉英进行体标记的一个共性,其语法化路径虽印证了"从空间到时间"和"时空相依"的发展特点,但汉英进行体标记最终演变为不同的句法结构,这是由各自所属的语言类型以及语言背后的民族思维特性决定的,具体来说,汉语的空间性思维特质与英语的时间性思维特质是导致汉英进行体标记语法化差异的深层因素。

This paper aims to reveal the particularity of spatiality in Chinese and that of temporality in English by an indepth analysis of their grammaticalizational differences of the progressive aspect markers. The two languages have similar spatial source for the development of progressive aspect markers,which verifies the evolutional road that languages have taken following the pathway from 'being from space to time'to 'the space-time interdependence'.However,the two languages have finally evolved into different grammatical structures in terms of their progressive aspect markers. The paper maintains that the essential reason for such differences is closely related to the linguistic type and their national ways of thinking,namely,the particularity of spatiality in Chinese and that of temporality in English determine their differences of the progressive aspect markers.
