Traditional plaster casting tape is a material to help orthopedic patients to fix their limbs, but brings pa- tients many inconveniences due to its heaviness and airtightness. In line with the development of science and tech- nology, novel composite casting tapes featuring lightweight, high strength and transparency to X-ray are increasingly replacing plaster casting tapes and finding uses in medical sector. This article systematically elaborates the characteristics and applications of polymer casting tapes splints and tough polymer casting tapes.
