左宝贵从事开办经营企业之活动势必影响军事工作。左宝贵所谓的"兵力太单"之说和装备不如日军之说不能成立。进攻平壤的日军兵力与守卫平壤的清军兵力是基本上相当的。在战前没有抢占制高点是左宝贵在平壤之战前的失误。左宝贵以无知之勇和匹夫之勇轻死阵前,导致诸军皆溃。清政府借助表彰左宝贵的所谓忠壮以维护其腐败统治、掩盖其在甲午战争中的腐败无能。

Nowadays,people should not continue the mistake of Qing government and should reflect on the appraisal of Zuo Baogui after 120 years of the 1894 War.
