新圩阻击战是湘江战役的一部分。为了掩护党中央安全渡过湘江,在新圩阻击战中,年仅20岁的红三军团第五师师长李天佑,团结部属,指挥仅有的两个团加一个炮兵营,通观全局、选好战场,亲临战阵、巧妙布兵,临危不惧、指挥若定,沉着冷静、灵活机动,不惜一切代价、顽强坚守,把凶恶的敌人挡在湘江岸边,胜利地完成了阻击任务。李天佑勇于担当和善于担当的精神永远值得弘扬与学习。

Xinxu blocking action was a part of Xiangjiang River campaign.In order to shield the Central Party Committee to cross the Xiangjiang River safely,in Xinxu blocking action,only 20 year-old Li Tianyou,the fifth division commander of the third army group of the Red Army,united his subordinates,commanded on-ly two regiments and one artillery brigade,held the position tenaciously.He chose the most appropriate bat-tle field and was in there personally.He was at ingenious disposal,faced enemy with no fear.He was calm but mimble.He was at all costs to kept off the fierce enemy on the Xiangjiang River shore,completing the blockade duty successfully.Li Tianyou’s spirit of taking on responsibilities is worth carrying forward and studying.
