湖南影戏对广大下层民众有着明显的教育、教化功能。这一功能给民众的影响有的是显性的,有的是隐性的。其中剧本在这一方面呈现出的作用是显性的。影戏剧本在历史、人文知识、伦理道德、日常生活常识等方面都能给广大民众一定的教育。这一功能即使在教育手段已现代化、多样化的今天仍有它的积极意义。

Shadow plays in Hunan province exert an obvious educational function for the common folk, whether it is ex- plicit or implicit. And the script plays the explicit role as it has educational function in history, humanities, ethics and daily lives that is still of positive significance even nowadays with modem and various educational means.
