The Injured Merman,a novel by the much discussed Japanese model novel writer Kondo Keithi,is a representative work in Japanese literature history.The novel,taking the famous Japanese swimmer Takaishi Katsuo as the model,narrates the emotional engagement of the swimmer Mitsumura Tatsuhiko with two women.The present paper,based on the historical events and the literature world changes in the 1930 s,explores the virtuality and reality of the writing and the other elements that made it created.
