摘要
在全球化时代,我国英语专业学生有必要掌握英语这门国际性的语言,培养国际视野,获得良好的跨文化交际能力。但是,现行教学大纲却没有为学生提供足够的多国社会文化必修课程。本研究通过定性与定量相结合的方法考察在我国英语专业教育中引入系列多国社会文化必修课程对英语专业学生产生的阶段性影响。研究中采用课堂观察、访谈和问卷采集研究数据。研究发现,多国社会文化课程对学生的英语语言技能、英语语言知识、多国社会文化知识和综合素质产生了不同程度的积极影响;同时也发现了多国社会文化课程教学存在的问题并有针对性地提出解决建议。
In the era of globalization, English majors in Chinese tertiary institutions should to master the international English language, develop an international outlook and foster good inter- cultural communication skill. However, students are not provided with adequate instruction of multi-national society and culture courses in the current national curriculum. This study intends to probe the periodical impact of a curriculum reform which incorporated a series of compulsory multi-national society and culture courses into the education of English majors in China. A mixed method of quantitative and qualitative research is employed with observation, interview and questionnaire as data collection instruments. The study indicates that the courses exerted positive effects on students' English language skills, English language knowledge and multinational social and culture knowledge and general qualities but with varying degrees. Problems in the instruction of the courses are also discovered in this study and their solutions are proposed.
