在近代,英国众多的商界人士、政府官员、领事和海关官员们纷纷涌入中国新疆,进行频繁地考察和探险活动,为后人留下了不少相关考察报告、探险实录、札记和游记。在这些资料当中,他们对当地的贸易前景、市场状况、进出口物产、交通运输、收税情况,以及限制对外贸易的各种因素等方面做过比较详细的描述和记录。从这些描述和记录中,我们不仅可以看出近代英国人对我国新疆贸易的基本看法,而且还可以勾勒出英帝国侵略中国新疆的潜在意识。

In modern time, many business people, government officials, consular and customs officials of British had poured into Xinjiang of China to make frequent investigation and exploration activities, who had leaved many investigation report, expedition records, notes and blogs for posterity. They carried out a detailed record, such as local market conditions, trade, import and export products, transportation, taxes and restrictions on foreign trade of various factors as described in more detail and record. From this historical records, we could not only see the basic understanding of British on trade in Xinjiang, but also outline the potential consciousness imperial aggression of British to Xinjiang of China.
