民族志方法与图书馆用户研究——以美国罗切斯特大学图书馆项目为例

Ethnographic Method and Library Users Research——Case Study of the Research Project Conducted by the University of Rochester Library

运用民族志方法研究图书馆及其用户,在国外的图书馆领域已经成为一股新潮流。与此对照,国内对于这种研究取向却极少关注。本文尝试探讨民族志方法的核心原则、工作伦理和基本方法,并结合美国罗切斯特大学图书馆的一项用户研究项目,分析民族志方法在大学图书馆研究中的具体运用模式,以及民族志方法对于图书馆洞察用户需求,丰富服务内涵,提升图书馆员职业信心的意义。

Utilizing the method of ethnography in study on libraries and their users has become a new trend abroad. In con- trast, little attention is paid to this kind of research orientation in domestic. This paper tries to explore the core principles, work ethics and techniques of ethnography method. And combined with a user-research project conducted by the University of Rochester library, it analyzes the specific application mode of ethnography method in academic library research. Then it illus- trates the meaning of ethnography methods in understanding the user demand, diversifying the services, and improving the li- brarian＇s professional confidence.
