图尔尼埃的寓言小说《礼拜五或太平洋岛上的灵薄狱》是一部伦理探索的大作。作者再写鲁滨孙故事,以弥合卢梭"回归自然"思想中主体与客体分离的认识论裂隙,并把矛头指向资本主义新教伦理,批判其混淆是非,将"文明"征服"野蛮"的恶德说成美德。作品还颠覆了作为新教伦理基石的线性时间观念,引入尼采"永恒轮回"的时间观念,以"太阳城"寓言与之互文,将伦理探索艺术化,具有独特的文学价值。
Michel Tournier＇s aUegoric novel, Friday, or, The Other Island, is a masterpiece exploring the ethic. The author rewrites Robinson＇s story to bridge the epistemological gap reflected in Rousseau＇s ＂return to nature＂, that is, the separation between the subject and object. Meantime, it criticizes the protestant work ethic which confuses the right with the wrong by describing the evil as the virtue when it advocates the conquering of barbarism through civilization. The novel also overturns the concept of the linear time, which is the foundation of the protestant ethic, and introduces Nietzsche＇s concept of time, that is, ＂perpetual return＂ through a cross interpretation with an allegory of ＂Sun City＂. It has its unique literary value for it explores the ethic through an artistic form.
