论《左传》所记三次重大的人物品评活动

Three Major Character Evaluation Activities in Zuo Zhuan

春秋时期的人物品评活动盛况空前,出现了中国历史上第一个品评人物的高峰。这一时期处于思想前沿的是贵族君子,他们形成了一个特殊的文化圈。他们在政治外交活动和思想交流活动中常常品评人物。贵族君子和史官的思想在这一时期出现合流的倾向。贵族君子和史官成为这一时期人物品评的主体。《左传》就记载了大量的发生于贵族君子这一文化圈的人物品评事例。其中可以称得上人物品评盛会的大型活动有三次。分别是虢之会:郑行人公孙挥品评各国大夫;垂陇之会:赵孟请赋诗以观郑国七大夫之志;延陵季子遍评各诸侯国政治精英。

Character evaluation activities were unprecedented in the Spring and Autumn Period,and the first peak of character evaluation in Chinese history appeared. Noble gentlemen were the intellectual elites in this period. They formed a special cultural circle. They often commented on figures in the political and diplomatic activities and ideological exchange activities. The thoughts of noblemen and historiographers were becom-ing similar in this period. The noble gentlemen and historiographers had become the subjects of personage evaluation in this period. Zuo Zhuan recorded a lot of character evaluation examples that occurred in the cultural circle of noble gentlemen. Three events were held at Guo,Chuilong and yangling where comments were made on political elites of various vassal states.
