在分析GIS专业发展特点、明确GIS专业英语课程设置目标的基础上,探讨了GIS专业英语的教学内容及其教学方法与手段.GIS专业英语的教学内容不能一概而论,教师应根据GIS专业的发展特点及GIS专业英语课程设置目标制定合理的教学内容.在教学过程中,应注重精读与泛读相结合,GIS专业术语学习及"听、说、写"能力的培养.

Based on the analysis of the development characteristics for GIS specialty and the curriculum objectives for GIS specialty English,the teaching contents and teaching methods and means for GIS specialty English were discussed.The reasonable teaching contents for GIS specialty English should be established according to the development characteristics for GIS specialty and the curriculum objectives for GIS specialty English.In the process of teaching,the combination of intensive reading and extensive reading,the learning of GIS specialty term and the training of＂listening,speaking and writing＂abilities should be paid attention to.
