王猷定生卒年考辨

The Study of the Dates of Birth and Death of Wang Youding

王猷定,字于一,号轸石,江西南昌人,诗文在清初颇有影响。但其生卒年在学界颇有争议,其中生年有三说,即万历二十六年(1598)、万历二十七年(1599)和万历二十九年(1601);卒年有两说,即顺治十八年(1661)和康熙元年(1662)。现根据王猷定《四照堂文集》中多篇之文及相关材料,推定出王猷定当生于万历二十七年(1599),卒于康熙元年(1662)。

Wang Youding, who was born in Nanchang, Jiangxi, was very influential in poetry and prose in the early years of theQing Dynasty. But his dates of birth and death are always controversial in the academic circles. There are currently three maintypes of argument about his birth date, namely, that Wang＇ s birth date is the 26th（ 1598）, 27th（1599） or 29th（ 1601 ） year inthe reign of Emperor Wanli （1573 -1620） of the Ming Dynasty（ 1368 -1644）. And his death date is the 18th year（ 1661 ） inthe reign of Emperor Shunzhi （ 1644 - 1661 ） of the Qing Dynasty（ 1644 - 1911 ） , or the first year （1662） in the reign of Emper-or Kangxi （1662 -1722） of the Qing Dynasty. The paper, based on Wang＇ s Sizhaotang Collection and related material, thinksthat his birth date must be the 27th （1599） year in the reign of Emperor Wanli and his death year must be the first year（1662）in the reign of Emperor Kangxi.
