An Investigation to the Sources of “The Tales of Swordsmen”

王世贞编撰的文言小说集《剑侠传》,主要取材对象是《太平广记》、《夷坚志》等作品集,但在成书过程中,他较多地借助了《艳异编》、《新编分类夷坚志》等其它选本的编辑和校订工作。由于编辑态度的粗疏,《剑侠传》保留了大量的文句错讹。

＂The Tales of Swordsmen＂, a collection of short stories compiled by Wang Shizhen, was mainly originated from ＂Taip-ing Guangji＂ and ＂Yijian Zhi＂. During his editing work, Wang took many advantages of the results which had been made by theeditors of ＂Yanyi Bian＂ and ＂New Revised and Sorted Yijian Zhi＂. Because of his very unserious work attitude, Wang remaineda considerable quantity of mistakes in ＂The Tales of Swordsmen＂.
