Published in 1976, The Easter Parade is one of representative works of American modern writer Richard Yates and is called his “Female Novel”.In this novel, Yates described the miserable life and experiences of three female characters from the lower strata , U.S.A., especially sister Amily in 1970s sharply yet sympathetically from the perspective of a male writer , meanwhile this novel contains Yates＇viewpoints about women and can be consid-ered as the twelfth kind of loneliness beside his other book the Eleven Kinds of Loneliness.From the perspectives of woman and loneliness , the paper intends to probe Yeats＇understanding of life and fate with the theory of existential-ism and tries to find the key to loneliness in modern society .
