Abstract： Affected by times, schools, society, technology and other factors, university hbrares neect changing ana expanding to accommodate their development and innovations. It is drawn from the origin of university libraries that openness is their inherent property. And this property will also be the inevitable trend of the university library renovation and expansion design. From the analysis, we can conclude that the openness of university libraries is characterized by the diversity of the data obtainment, high efficiency of data circulation and the service equality of library collections. Therefore, the concept of openness should always run through the function optimization and space reconstruction of the university library renovation and expansion design to make the mode of resources transmission more diverse, the efficiency of resources transmission more efficient, and then the openness of the university library will be fully reflected.
