Discussion on Professional English Teaching for College Students Majored in Science and Technology

伴随着全球化和高等教育的迅猛发展,专业英语教学面临着来自教师和学生的深层次问题,很难适应日益严峻的就业市场的要求,也无法充分深化学生对专业知识和技能的学习,已成为大学教育改革不可缺少的环节。针对理工科专业英语教学实践存在的问题,应以学生为核心,以知识技能习得为目标,加强师资力量建设,改革课堂教学手段,结合课下学生研讨自学,实施高效、科学的专业英语教学模式。

Accompanied by globalization and development of higher education, professional English teaching faces many problems concerning teachers and college students. It hardly adapts to meet the increasing com- mand of the labor market, and it is difficult to profound knowledge and expertise of these students. Profession- al English teaching becomes one of the indispensible steps for college education. Based on the professional English teaching for college students majored in science and technology, the reason for the ineffective teaching activities is discussed and a new teaching model is proposed. The aim is to make the college students acquire the expertise on professional English. The manpower for professional English teaching should be enhanced and the teaching methods should be reinforced as well. Effective and scientific teaching mode will be realized by integrating the on -class learning and after-class discussion.
