临终护理是一门新兴学科,是一种特殊的卫生保健服务,指由多学科,多方面的专业人员组成的临终关怀团队,为病人及其家属提供全面的舒缓疗护,以使临终病人缓解极端的病痛,维护临终病人的尊严,得以舒适安宁的度过人生的最后旅程,是我国进入人口老龄化社会护理工作的重点,具有广泛的社会意义,是社会文明进步的标志之一,探讨临终病人的护理,总结临终护理的做法和经验,做好临终护理工作,体现临终病人在现今社会中得到关爱和尊重,提高生存质量。
