Auction institution is regarded as the largest non-governmental trading place of ancient rare books. Most ancient books which are put up to auction need to be restored and repaired to various degrees so as to obtain a good physical appearance. This essay makes an analysis of the problems of the restoration and protection of rare books to be put at auction, presents some suggestions in the hope of appealing the units concerned and the people from all walks of life to pay due attention to the work of the restoration and protection of the folk rare books.
