摘要
薇拉·凯瑟是20世纪上半叶美国著名女作家。在其短篇小说中,凯瑟塑造了很多艺术家形象,反映出理想与现实的矛盾,表达了对艺术人生的思考。凯瑟笔下的艺术家形象颇具酒神特征,既赞美了艺术家的纯真、高贵,又揭示出缺乏理性制约对艺术家造成的消极影响。
Willa Cather is the famous American female writer during the first half of the 20th century. She created many images of artists which represent the contradiction between ideal and reality and reflect her thought on artistic life. Theses images showed the characteristic of Dionysus praising the innocence and nobility of them as well as negative influence caused by inadequate rational restriction.
