中国“外语热”的“冷思考”

Some Reflections on the Foreign Language Fever in China

改革开放三十年来,我国外语教育规模不断扩大,教育质量显著提高,取得了令人瞩目的成就。同时,我国外语教育也存在不少问题,因而"外语热"遭到了各方面的质疑和批评。笔者认为,对于我国的外语教育应该全面客观地进行总结、回顾和评价,既要肯定外语教育对我国经济和社会发展作出的巨大贡献,又要对存在的问题进行冷静思考,应积极探索和建立具有中国特色的语言学理论和外语教学体系。

Over the past 30 years since the inception of reform and opening-up policy,China has achieved dramatic developments in the foreign language education with the constant expansion of its scale and the significant improvement of its quality.At the same time,there have been quite a number of problems in this field and the so-called ＂ Foreign Language Fever＂ has been widely challenged and criticized.It is argued that we should sum up,review and evaluate China＇s foreign language education in a more comprehensive and objective way.And we should fully affirm the contribution of foreign language education to China＇s economic and social developments and calmly think about the problems so that we can explore ways to establish the systems of linguistic theory and foreign language teaching with Chinese characteristics.
