The scholars is a satire novel with great sense of realistic significance, which poses a sarcastic view towards real life and pays much heed to the description of characters garments as well. This dissertation mainly analyses the garments of different people for the purpose of showing an epitome version of garments in Ming dynasty, which contains three different parts： Male clothing, Female clothing and clothing of certain groups. Not only do the description of garments facilitates the proceeding of the plot, but makes The Scholars be one of the novels with great historical value. The description of garments even plays an important role in shaping the image of typical characters, the identity and status of explicit characters and focusing on the topic of the novel.
