摘要
语言是思想的直接体现。语言作为人类思想的载体和主要的交际媒介,直接反映语言使用者的思想和价值观。社会对语言具有决定性,语言随社会而产生,随社会而发展。性别歧视是一种偏离以客观事实为依据,扭曲的社会态度。语言中的性别歧视一直是社会语言学家所关注的热点问题,相关的研究也已经取得了长足的发展。本文将从英语词法的视角出发,通过实例来揭示性别歧视现象在英语语言中的体现,并分析其成因,最后提出我们每个人都应从自身的语言习惯进行细微的改变,为消除语言中的性别歧视尽自己的绵薄之力。
Language is a direct manifestation of thought,and as a carrier of human thought and the main medium of communi-cation,it directly reflects the ideas and values of language users.Society plays a decisive role in language,while language gen-erates and develops under the influence of society.Sexism is a distorted social attitude which deviates from objective facts.Sex-ism in language has been the focus of social linguists and studies on sexism have made great progress.This paper reveals the sexism phenomenon in English through specific examples and analyzes its causes from lexical perspective.Finally,the author proposes that everyone of us should make trivial changes from our own language habits and puts forward a few strategies to elimi-nate sexism in language.
