养生者要修身养性、形神共养,才能增强体质、预防疾病、促进身心健康。五行学说是用五行归类推演法和生克乘侮原理,阐释自然界的方位地域、季节气候与饮食养生的关联,指导人们春夏养阳、秋冬养阴。遵循五行学说,可有效地预防四季邪气的侵袭、纠正体质的寒热偏差,从而使机体各脏腑功能协调并与自然达到均衡和统一。
People who preserve health should edify their disposition and preserve both their body and mind to build up health,preventing diseases,and promote both physical and mental health. By the thinking pattern of categorization according to the five elements and by the mutual generation,restriction,over-restriction,and counter-restriction of the five elements,the five-element theory illustrates the impact of direction and position of the nature,and seasons and climate on dietetic health preservation; it also guides people to maintain Yang in spring and summer and nourish Yin in autumn and winter. Preserving health by five-element theory can effectively protect people from pathogenic factors of the seasons and rectify people's constitution from being too cold or too hot,so that the organs go in balance and harmony in function and with the nature.
