The meaning of the idiom“Gao Wu Jian Ling”has been enlarged during the long process of use. The interpretation of the idiom in the authoritative dictionary is confined to its original meaning,“operating something from a strategically advantageous position”, or“condescending and irresistible”. In fact, from the angle of pragmatic mean-ing,“Gao Wu Jian Ling”includes two meanings. The first one is in accord with the authoritative dictionary and it is the original definition mainly used in the military field. The second is the deep meaning and is used to express one’s idea and thinking from an advantageous position.
