In 1880, Mr. Yang Shoujing went to Japan, where he found many rare Chinese books from booksellers, so he collected and brought the books back to China. From then on, more and more Chinese scholars went to Japan to collect or copy rare Chinese books from booksellers and libraries with the Cabinet Library one of them. From 1927 to 1928, Mr. Dong Kong, Mr. Hu Shi, Mr. Yuan Tongli, Mr. Ma Zon- grong, Mr. Zhang Yuanji, and Mr. Zheng Zhenwen came to the Cabinet Library one after another. Mr. Ryutaro Higuchi, the librarian of the Cabinet Library, had the opportunities to meet with them and recor- ded all the visits in detail, such as the bibliography, the dialogues, the actions of the scholars and his ob- servation of them, which offers different evidence and supplement to the well-known historical materials. This paper collects all the related articles written by Mr. Ryutaro Higuchi, tries to find out what kind of books the scholars had read and what had they impressed Mr. Ryutaro Higuchi, which will provide a new view for the researchers.
