在清教殖民统治的社会大背景下,海丝特虽具有一定程度的反抗,但又不得不做出妥协和牺牲,海丝特的反抗具有不彻底性。这种不彻底的反抗有很深的社会原因,并且受到作者本人的情感经历的影响。

Even though Hester had a certain resistance,she had to compromise and sacrifice under the Puritan colonial social background. Therefore,in general,Hester was not thoroughly resistive,which had deep social causes,and was influenced by Hawthorne＇s emotional and psychological experience.
