Military Medical Service in Wei-Jin and Southern-Northern Dynasties

魏晋南北朝时期,政局动荡,灾害频繁,天灾人祸并作,致使疾疫多发。战争及频发的疾疫造成部队人员大量伤亡,为解决将士的伤病救治及保健问题,决策者采取了设立军医、派遣随军医生、士卒体检、注意军士饮食卫生等措施。这些措施的实施促进了魏晋南北朝时期军事医学的发展,战伤外科、骨伤科及各种急救处理等方面的临证经验进一步充实,诊断水平明显提高,治疗方式灵活多样。

In the period of Wei-Jin and Southern-Northern Dynasties,political turmoil and frequent natural and man-made disasters contributed to the occurrence of epidemics,causing heavy casualties of military forces. To cope with the injuries and health care of the soldiers,the policy makers decided to set up military doctor system by assigning doctors to the army,carrying out soldiers＇ physical examination and giving much attention to the healthy diet. The implementation of these measures promoted the development of military medical science and enriched the clinical experience of war surgery,orthopedics and all kinds of emergency treatment.
