瞿秋白在上海大学期间的经历是他人生中的重要一页,是从文弱书生向中共领袖转变的一个中间阶段。瞿秋白在上海大学历任学务长、社会学系主任、行政委员会委员。他为上海大学制定了一套较为完整的办学方案。在瞿秋白主持下,上海大学社会学系实际开设了辩证唯物主义和历史唯物主义、私有财产及国家起源、通俗资本主义、科学社会主义等课程。除了讲课之外,瞿秋白还多次在上海大学进行报告与演讲,宣传马克思主义。他还多次在学生刊物上发表文章,尽心尽责进行课后辅导,以弥补课堂教育、讲座报告的不足。在较长一段时间内,瞿秋白的党组织关系就在上海大学的党小组(支部)内,他指导学生群团活动,组织学生投入革命运动,为中国共产党培养青年干部。这些革命活动引起了帝国主义势力的恐慌与破坏。在上海大学期间,瞿秋白的性格、才能、学识以及俄语翻译能力得到了充分的发挥。他在上海大学的教学实践是他尝试用马克思主义来研究中国历史与社会的一部分,而且是比较成功的。

QU Qiubai＇s experience in the Shanghai University was one of the most important periods in his life which was an intermediate stage for him changed from a frail scholar to the leader of Chinese Communist Party.QU Qiubai had served successively as Dean of Student Affairs,Department head of sociology,and member of Executive Committee at Shanghai University.He had developed a relatively complete set of education programmes for Shanghai University.Under the auspices of QU Qiubai,Shanghai University＇s Department of sociology actually set courses such as dialectical materialism and historical materialism,private property and national origins,popular capitalism,and scientific socialism.In addition to class,QU Qiubai repeatedly gave reports and speeches at the Shanghai University to propagate Marxism.He also repeatedly published articles in student publications,dedicated to after-school tutoring to make up for the lack of classroom education,lectures and reports.Over long time periods,QU Qiubai＇s relationship of party organization was in the party group of the Shanghai University（branch）,he coached students＇ group activities,organized students into the revolutionary movement,and cultivated young cadres of the Party.These revolutionary activities caused panic and destruction of the imperialist forces.At Shanghai University,Qu Qiubai＇s personality,ability,knowledge,and level of Russian translation were fully realized.His teaching practice at Shanghai University was a part of attempt that he tried to use Marxism to research the Chinese history and the society which was relatively successful.
