During my 33 year career in the IT industry, I have had the honor to participate in the creation of several industry consortiums, but none of those consortiums had a goat to cre- ate formal standards that wouLd be adopted by national or internationat standards organizations tike ISO or IEC. ＂Industry standards＂ from these consortiums all start as simpte in- ventions, but good ideas cannot become industry standards without first creating a Legal group where inteLLectual property can be created.
