The Construction of Conversational Identities with General Extender——A Case Study of or something in MICASE

泛化表达是一种高频使用的多词序列。本文从语用身份出发,以MICASE学术口语语料库中的泛化表达or something为例,分析了泛化表达在语篇特征、话语内容、言语行为方面的话语实践。在机构身份和关系身份相对稳定的学术口语中,泛化表达有助于交际者通过操控话轮转换、修正话语内容和调整言语行为的语力,建构适切的话语语用身份,满足当前语境下的交际需求。

General extender is a kind of frequently used multiword sequence. Basing on pragmatic identity, this paper uses or something in MICASE as an example to analyze the conversational practice in terms of textual features, related content, and speech acts. h is found that in academic spoken English, where institutional identities and relational identities are relatively stable, general extenders can help to construct conversational identities dynamically, slightly adjusting communicators＇ existent identities in order to satisfy the goal of situated communication.
