摘要
英国当代女作家A.S.拜厄特在其创作的"新历史小说"《天使与昆虫》之《婚姻天使》篇中,通过一个具有超验色彩的幽灵故事,探讨了生命的物质性基础以及精神与物质、肉体与灵魂之间的悖论关系。本文拟对其中的"幽灵"叙事展开分析,探讨其所体现的身体伦理及承载的文化意义,从而揭示拜厄特历史小说所具有的当下性和现实关怀。
By a cultural critique of the ghost image and ghost narrative in Conjugial Angel,the second novella of A.S.Byatt's neo-historical novel Angels and Insects,this paper intends to explore the paradoxical relationship of body and spirit implied in her novel.Byatt's emphasis on materiality and corporality is a reflection of her interest and involvement in the on-going critical debate of materiality and body politics in current cultural studies.By analyzing the vision of Hallem's ghost narrative,this paper aims to reveal the contemporaneousness in Byatt's historical novel.
