The narrative analysis of male college students from rural China in research-oriented universities shows that class background and social division of labor affect male college students from rural areas consistently, and bring them an ascribed culture disadvantage.During the process of attending university, the ascribed field and culture capital from class and family background constrain their behavior, affect them through less male cognition by social division of labor, and ultimately produce subjective behavior limitations.Restrictions from class background on behavior are an explicit injustice, while the most important factor lies in the cognitive level of behavior selection. Therefore, combined with changes in social structure,it is necessary to take appropriate measures to promote education equality at the cognitive level.
