A Study on the Monash University's Internal Governance Structure and Its Enlightenment

作为澳洲精英大学之一的莫纳什大学虽建校历史不长,但以其鲜明的办学风格迅速跻身世界一流大学之列。影响大学发展的因素是多元的,但其自身的治理结构无疑起到决定性作用,深刻剖析莫纳什大学内部治理结构,呈现出三个显著特征:决策权与行政权相分离的治理结构;决策机构与行政机构组成人员之间相互交叉融合;学校重大事务决策的专业化。该大学的治理结构体系对于建设具有中国特色的现代大学制度具有极强的借鉴价值。

As one of the Australian elite universities,Monash University has become a world-class university within a very short time for its distinctive school-running style,though its history is not long. The influence factors in terms of the university development are diverse. Among them the factor of University＇s governance structure plays a decisive role. Analyzing the internal governance structure of Monash University profoundly we have found three distinct features： the governance structure of separating the decision-making power from the administrative power,the complementarity between the members of the decision mechanism and administrative institutions and the professionalization of the decision-making on university＇s major issues. The governance structure of Monash University has a significant reference in constructing a modern university system with Chinese characteristics.
