Characteristics of Rice Seed Industry and Developing Orientation of Rice Breeding in Hainan

当前海南水稻种业市场具有品种繁多、种子库存量大、需求锐减等特点。进一步分析了近年海南水稻品种审定数量、水稻种植面积、季节分布以及主推品种特点,指出海南水稻育种的发展方向是优质稻和超级稻,认为水稻育种应加强资源和材料创新,向引领型育种模式转变。

The current rice seed industry of Hainan showed such characteristics as too many rice varieties,a high level of seed inventory and a sharp decreasing seed demand. Based on the analysis on the number of registered rice varieties,rice planting area and rice growing season and the features of main rice varieties in commercial production in recent years,the breeding orientation of rice in Hainan was considered to be the development of high quality rice and super high-yielding rice. In future rice breeding,the innovation of genetic resources and breeding materials should be strengthened with the breeding model transformed from a follow-up to the lead-ahead.
