Yan Zhen＇s two novels The Water of Canglang River and Because of Women were composed as a pair of ＂ companions＂ in the early Twenty-first Century,both of which bear similarities in the expression of creative thinking and ideas and have become a model in a specific historical period of survival plight. The writing style of the two novels is realistic,demonstrating the primitive state of the secular life and revealing in general our age＇s survival and spiritual predicament. Cast in the novels are Yan＇s individual experience and contemplation of the age＇s survival state and the texts imply the internally hidden deep concern on reality.
