The U.S.-based Time magazine published a lengthy piece on LeiJun, founder of one of China＇s largest technology companies Xiaomi Inc., in late March, crowning him ＂China＇s Phone King.＂ Lei was born in 1969 in Xiantao, central China＇s Hubei Province. He went to Wuhan University and graduated in 1991 with a degree in computer science. Lei then worked with Chinese software firm Kingsoft as an engineer, eventually rising to become the com- pany＇s president in 1998.
